The IPA conference

At the heart of the Interpretive Policy Analysis network lies the International Interpretive Policy Analysis conference (IPA). Since the first event in Birmingham in 2006, successful conferences have been held in  Amsterdam, Essex, Kassel, Grenoble, Cardiff, Tilburg, Vienna, Wageningen, Lille, Hull and Leicester. The next IPA conference will be held 28 Febr. – 3 March 2018 in Ahmedabad, India.

The International Interpretive Policy Analysis conference includes sessions such as:

  • ‘normal paper sessions’,
  • methodology workshops in which early career scholars can receive feedback from more experienced scholars,
  • practice seminars in which practitioners participate
  • Author meets Critics sessions in which authors of new publications meet their critics
  • teaching sessions in which new ways of  interpretive teaching are discussed

The general conference is preceded by a pre-conference course on methods of Interpretive Policy Analysis.
