APSA Meeting on Interpretive Research

For those attending the Australian Political Studies Association (APSA) conference in Perth this November, there’s an exciting lineup of activities centered around interpretive research, brought to you by the Interpretive Methods Research Group!

This is a fantastic opportunity to deepen your understanding of interpretive methods and discuss research designs in the current political climate.

đź“… Activities Include:

Monday: Interpretive research session at the PhD symposium.

Tuesday: First official meeting of the Interpretive Methods Research Group.

Thursday: Special panel on interpretive research in Australia, plus various insightful paper presentations (though some are in overlapping time slots!).

Let’s connect, learn, and discuss how interpretive research can illuminate complex political phenomena—like the politics of resentment that continue to shape electoral outcomes, including recent developments in the U.S. elections. In an era where traditional analytical methods often miss the mark in predicting such outcomes, interpretive approaches offer us the tools to understand deeper societal currents—those that drive support for populist figures, challenge democratic norms, and fuel divisions around identity, race, and gender.

Feel free to reach out if you’re interested or check the details for more information.

Looking forward to seeing many of you there!
